Today’s newsletter is going to be a little different.
Two days ago, I got married. I have a wife (!!!!). Woah. I’m overwhelmed with happiness and love and gratitude.
The day was a whirlwind. October 4th is the anniversary of when we first met and holds a very special place in my heart. As I said in my vows to Susannah, three years ago, on October 4th I became a better person.
We decided on a courthouse wedding because we wanted to legally wed before the Supreme Court could take any action to remove our Federal rights to be married.
I much prefer the older Courts’ language on our union:
“No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were. As some of the petitioners in these cases demonstrate, marriage embodies a love that may endure even past death. It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage. Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right.”

We’re hoping to celebrate in a larger, more boisterous way, with family and friends in the future. Though, this intimate, just us, kind of day felt really special.
But, it wasn’t really just us! We had our immediate family join us after the ceremony.
They showered us with flowers, love, and confetti. The rain cleared up just enough to let us snap some pics and then head home.
And when we got home we had a surprise for everyone…aura readings!!
We finished the night at one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants, The Mary Lane. We ate, drank, toasted our love, and devoured Susannah’s incredible cake. Everything was easy and, honestly, perfect.
So forgoing the regular recommendations this week…but I guess if I had to, I’d recommend falling in love. 10 out 10 would recommend.
See you next week.
Congratulations!! So much joy and love!!
The Nairnes are incredibly happy for you both…look forward to seeing you soon.
