Morning! Back in NYC after a lovely trip to Minneapolis and Madison. So many babies!
It’s always good to come home and return to the madness of NYC. We stay booked and busy! I had the great pleasure of seeing the Berliner Philharmoniker at Carnegie Hall on Tuesday and I’m still thinking about how lovely they were.
Anyway, let’s get into the recs for this week:
1/ We need, “heroism rather than home, and courage rather than comfort” - A great long read on dealing with climate change.
Equally unusual, for its time and place, was the solution that Collier proposed. The antidote to the predations of industrial capitalism, he believed, was for non-Indigenous Westerners ultimately to come to understand that they must emulate the Navajo, Hopi and other tribal nations in cultivating “that passion and reverence for … the web of life and the earth which the American Indians have tended as a central, sacred fire since before the Stone Age.”
2/ An excellent gift giving guide.
3/ What are you tonguing? An extremely charming ep of Table Manners with Saoirse Ronan.
