Happy Thursday. Big day for me. Beginning a new stage. Leaving a difficult situation behind me and forging ahead. So much still to be figured out, to be learned, to be earned. But, I’m excited. I’m excited to be taking control again. I feel lighter and happier and ready to kick it off.
On to the recommendations for this week:
1/ For anyone curious on the history of the treadmill, this is a good primer. In it, Harvard prof Daniel Lieberman discusses exercise and evolution and most memorably, that treadmills were created to torture prisoners. That tracks.
2/ If you’re interested in the process of filmmaking, this is a great resource. It’s a sort of “making of” style video showing the process for filming Jane Campion’s excellent hit, The Power of the Dog.
3/ Lastly, my favorite musician Lissie has released a new album and with it some great new music videos. My favorite is this one, for her track Chasing the Sun. All hail Lissie!
That’s all for this week. Hit me up with your own recs, share this newsletter with anyone you think may be interested, and enjoy the rest of this fine Thursday!
