Good morning friends! And a happy SATC return to those of you in the know.
On to the recommendations for this week:
1/ This is cool if you’re interested in the process and creation of a painting, especially one from 1642! Conservators Uncover Marvelous Drawings Beneath Rembrandt’s ‘Night Watch,’ Revealing Changes He Made Along the Way. According to ArtNet, Researchers undertook work on Rembrandt's Night Watch over the course of nearly three years, and in full view to the public.
2/ This may have been the most words dedicated to cream cheese The Times has ever published, but yeah, what a New York problem! It’s incredible how many variables go into getting that tasty schmear.
3/ Finally, Andrea Long Chu is such a wonderful writer. I’ve posted her pieces before, but this personal essay about her physical transition is really exceptional. She has such an incredibly way with words - my favorite being her use of simile. Right from the jump you know it’s a good read, here’s the lede: MY CAT WAS 2 THE DAY I GOT MY PUSSY. Give it a read, you won’t be disappointed.
That’s all for this week. Thanks for reading and have a wonderful Thursday. Please feel free to share this newsletter with anyone you think may be interested.
