What a difference a week makes.
It’s a beautiful, sunny day here. The vibe has noticeably improved and not just in my apartment. Fingers crossed we have a beautiful spring and summer. I can’t express how much I need it for my sanity, for my health, for remembering I have community and people and joy. On to the recs…
1/ I’ve been doing a lot of creative research for a pitch this week and I came across this beautiful music video.
I love how inventive and unique it is. There are so many breakup videos, so many weird sort of avant-garde takes on how to visualize a parting of two people. This video is special, though. It’s a beautiful watch and Clio makes some excellent music if you’re looking for some French indie pop.
2/ I liked reading Ariel Levy’s latest for the New Yorker. This one was on Glennon Doyle. It felt like a solid profile, giving a fully formed picture of Doyle, of her life and her work while also being an interesting read. I suppose that’s what makes Levy a great writer. I haven’t read Doyle’s books, though I know they’re well loved. Not sure I ever will. I do enjoy her witty back-and-forth with wife Abby Wambach on instagram. This felt sufficient though, reading this piece gave me enough of the picture.
3/ Finally, I feel I sort of have to recommend this podcast, Table Manners because I’ve been binging it and I love it. It’s such a fun listen and they have a nice library of past conversations. Jessie Ware (a sort of famous British pop singer) and her mom, Lennie talk to guests all about food. It’s a delight and will make you hungry.
Till next week!
