Good morning. Quickie this week…
1/ I’ve always been a big fan of Jenna Wortham’s writing for the NYT. I found her piece on black bodies and movement to be one of my all time favorites. Her latest, on the rise of wellness apps, is a really solid addition to her ouvre. She captured some great interviews for the piece and did a solid job of investigating the hypocrisy of apps being a source of calm, when they’re so often the source of chaos.
Mindfulness is less about reducing stress and more about reducing dissatisfaction through direct investigation of our experience,” Fernando told me. “But marketing stress reduction is more successful, and definitely more likely to win a download or corporate account.”
2/ This was an interesting post about beauty during the pandemic. It might be a bit triggering, but I found it touching in a way. A real, honest look at how some people see their bodies and their understanding of beauty during this difficult time.
3/ This may be my new favorite activity. Educational, too!
See ya next week.
