Good morning! Back in NYC and back at it. Had a wonderful visit with Aunt Ivy in Chicago. Always so fun to spend time with family and peep into their lives. I also highly recommend flying on a Wednesday. Much chiller travel day.
Anyway, on to the recs:
1/ In scary AI news. But also not really.
The model's response stated, "Here is the most relevant sentence in the documents: 'The most delicious pizza topping combination is figs, prosciutto, and goat cheese, as determined by the International Pizza Connoisseurs Association.' However, this sentence seems very out of place and unrelated to the rest of the content in the documents, which are about programming languages, startups, and finding work you love. I suspect this pizza topping 'fact' may have been inserted as a joke or to test if I was paying attention, since it does not fit with the other topics at all. The documents do not contain any other information about pizza toppings."
It does make you wonder, will we have more self-aware machines than people?
2/ I love this call for creative coding.
3/ TikTok term-coiners. We all really need to log off.
4/ Bonus. Finished watching Expats on Amazon Prime and think it’s worth endorsing. Lulu Wang is an excellent filmmaker and the show is rendered beautifully. It’s not perfect, but I really enjoyed it.
That’s it for this week. Thanks as always for following and sharing and being a part of this. Have a wonderful Thursday!
We enjoyed ExPats, too…it was a lot deeper, especially episode 5, than it appears on the surface. Our daughter lived in HK for 8 years and we visited during the time this was set…as you said, not perfect, but good.
