It’s Spring in New York!! Every time the trees bloom, the sun shines, I can’t help but think of this clip.
Anyway, on to the recs for today!
1/ It’s cherry blossom season and I couldn’t be more thankful. After a cold, bleak winter, the blooming trees really do add some much needed beauty and light. I found this post about some of the top cherry blossom related visual moments in Japanese cinema to be incredibly pleasant. Japanese cinema really is in a league of its own if you’re looking for beauty shots.
2/ I don’t think it’s too early to reflect on the various phases of the pandemic. On what we lost-big and small-, on the trauma, on what we went through. I think it’s an ongoing experience.
As vaccinations ramp up and folks move from an isolated hibernation to park meet ups and roaming city streets, it’s important to think about the ways in which we have adjusted our lives. There was no right way, it seemed, to handle what happened. There’s no way to handle it even now.
So this week I came back to my friend Jeremy’s personal essay. Jeremy wrote about his boyfriend, a doctor, and their relationship and physical touch. It’s a beautiful piece on love and relationships and how we chose to belong to certain people. Check it out, here.
3/ Finally, I enjoyed listening to Kasey Musgrave cover On the Road Again. Love her. Love her voice.
Thanks for reading and see you next week.
