Good morning. Woke up to a flood of rain outside my window after a truly beautiful day. New York, you’re being silly again.
It’s been an up and down week. I’m finding myself craving a seemingly unattainable stability. The only way out is through.
On to this week’s recommendations:
1/ I’ve been reincorporating breath work into my mornings and it’s really helping. Younger me would surely scoff at this, but I’m finding it important to take a beat and work through the practice of conscious breathing. It helps center me amidst the chaos of my mind and daily happenings.
I recommend James for anyone interested in giving it a shot.
2/ My favorite actress is taking a stand against the film industry. Adèle Haenel is turning away from a system that repeatedly lets her down. Despite her best efforts to fix from within, she is doing what is right for herself and will shift toward theatre and working with other artists that align in spirit and values.
While I’m sad for the loss, for the immense hole created by her absence, I have to applaud her efforts. I guess I’ll just re-watch Portrait of a Lady on Fire every day?
3/ I recently re-read this piece from Andrew Sullivan on his marriage. I found it very moving to really consider the impact a marriage can have on connection and societal inclusion. I feel my upcoming nuptials will have a great impact on my soul for the better and find deep comfort in this. Let’s hope we can get it done before SCOTUS decides to strip us of our Federal rights to do so.
That’s all for this week. Have a great day and I’ll see you here next Thursday.
