Hello hello from a drizzly NYC.
The city is gearing up for a weekend of Pride related activities and it’s already tiring! But, we persist.
Friday, I’ll be going to the National Queer Theater’s Criminal Queerness Festival. It’s free and supports artists from countries where it’s criminalized to be gay. If you want to join, shoot me a message!
Let’s get into this week’s recommendations:
1/ Maggie Rogers sends out an excellent newsletter from the road while touring. I recommend subscribing, here if you’re interested in following a musician and her life on the road.
2/ This Thursday marks 50 years since David Bowie’s Life on Mars was released as a single. To celebrate a fan biked the distance Bowie belts, “from Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads.” He rode 2,700 miles “in search of a deeper understanding.” It’s a journey!
3/ A nice piece on the artist Francoise Gilot and how her remarkably prolific artistic life was overshadowed by a boyfriend. Yet, another reason to dislike Picasso. Even the NYT was sexist.
That’s it for this week. Be sure to share this with anyone you think may find it interesting. Also, happy birthday Danny :)
