Good morning. It’s another busy summer day so I’m going to jump right to the recs this week. Hopefully in the next week or two I can get more organized on these posts and share true insights. But you know, summer and what not.
1/ This scathing, but altogether extremely thought-provoking take on Hanya Yanagihara’s writing. I found myself really agreeing with a lot of this writing, which was unexpected given my immense appreciation of A Little Life. Still need to marinate on this, but well worth the read.
2/ If you’re interested in learning a language, I found this “turning polygot challenge” to be a cute way to orient yourself. I plan to try it out come August. Vous vous joindrez à moi ?
3/ “But it felt good to get arrested. This is civil disobedience.” This profile of Eileen Myles and their “save the trees” activism is great. Eileen is a NY cultural icon of NYC, especially the grittier NY of the 80s/90s.
Thanks for reading and feel free to share with anyone you think may be interested.
