Morning morning. Just went to a workout class that was so hard I could cry. Do you ever do a group class where literally every single person is still doing the task you’re supposed to be doing but you just shrink into a smaller and smaller and smaller version of yourself? Sweating into nothingness. No, just me? Well that happened. I should have known with a gym called “Bodyrok.”
Anyway, how we all doing? It’s a hot summer day and we are up and at it.
Let’s get into the recommendations. They’re a little lighter this week, but aren’t we all feel a little fried anyway?
1/ Photos from space! So cool.
In Webb’s mid-infrared view of the Pillars of Creation, thousands of stars that exist in this region appear to have vanished (not easily detectable at that wavelength)—and the seemingly endless layers of gas and dust become the centerpiece. The detection of dust by Webb’s Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI) is extremely important—dust is a major ingredient for star formation. Many stars are actively forming in these dense blue-grey pillars. When knots of gas and dust with sufficient mass form in these regions, they begin to collapse under their own gravitational attraction, slowly heat up, and eventually form new stars. The Pillars of Creation is a small region within the vast Eagle Nebula, which lies 6,500 light-years away. #
2/ Adored this movie. Can’t recommend it enough.
3/ Creative Mornings is doing a series on movement and this was a nice presentation on motion design and art.
That’s all for this week. If you’re interested in more recs, consider upgrading to premium status where you get extra newsletters every week and more content. Thanks for reading.
