Hello hello. It’s August! My birth month! That’s right, this very newsletter was birthed in August of 2020. Anniversaries are fun - a time to reflect, to feel proud, to feel tired.
Should we get into this week’s recs? Ok!
1/ How well can you discern what’s real vs. fake news? There’s a test for that! The “Misinformation Susceptibility Test — the MIST”.
Unsurprisingly, when you want to express your attitude you’re more prone to share misinformation. Apparently, I’m more resilient to misinformation than 44% of the US population! - I got 14/20. That’s actually bad right?
2/ This is an interesting piece on the major investment going into Syracuse, NY by way of semiconductor plants. I found it compelling to read all the ways “new tech” has actually busted and not brought forth the promise of prosperity. Hopefully these memory chips break that trend and create a boom for a city in desperate need.
The trick for Syracuse is not to try to be another Silicon Valley (a well-known list of others have failed at that fool’s errand) or even another Austin, but to use its resources and skills to define its own unique brand of innovation.
3/ Personal plug: Are you following Tourlami? We launched our video series and have begun to post on all social channels.
Where to follow: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, E-Mail List
That’s all for this week! Thank you as always for reading and sharing and letting me know what’s interesting in your world. Have a great rest of your day.
