Morning friends. Hurricane Henri came and went, and now we’re back to 90 degree days and blasting AC. What a life.
This week’s recs:
1/ I really want to recommend this 2-part interview from Bari Weiss featuring Josh Rogin. Rogin is one of the best sourced, most thoughtful journalists on China. His answers to Weiss’ many probing and sharp questions were well thought out and informative. I am eager to read his book now and remain pretty scared of China.
I thought Rogin’s take on Afghanistan in Part 2 was perfect - a combination of true heartbreak, sadness, horror, and small bit of hope for a better future eventually. It’s heavy, but very much worth your time.
2/ This was a pretty interesting interview with TikTok star Victoria Paris. She’s…a lot. I have tons of swirling thoughts on content creators, on making money in that space and on who gets to the top. Not sure what to say just yet, but was glad to watch and learn more about this area.
I also liked Colin and Samir’s thorough breakdown of the Call Her Daddy journey. I think I’m in the daddy gang now and it’s weird and I love it.
3/ This piece on breakups and “offering”.
That’s all for this week. Please feel free to share this weekly newsletter with anyone you think may be interested.
