Morning all. It’s Thursday and another jam-packed week of work and life and all that. Let’s jump into the recs and move it along.
1/ This is incredible.
Rather than selling the company or taking it public, Mr. Chouinard, his wife and two adult children have transferred their ownership of Patagonia, valued at about $3 billion, to a specially designed trust and a nonprofit organization. They were created to preserve the company’s independence and ensure that all of its profits — some $100 million a year — are used to combat climate change and protect undeveloped land around the globe.
I hope more people can celebrate and normalize this decision. Thanks, mom for sharing the article first.
2/ I really like this guy Steven and his podcast, Diary of a CEO. This interview with Simon Sinek about balance and the concept of why is really interesting. Steven does a good job of pushing back, staying true to himself, and elevating the conversation passed surface-level chatter.
3/ We just finished The Bear (late, I know) and it was so good! So so good. Beautifully shot, anxiety-inducing plots, wonderful acting, tight storytelling. Highly recommend. It’s on hulu.
That’s it for this week. Please feel free to share this newsletter with anyone you think needs weekly recs or distractions. Have a great Thursday and see you next week.
