Hej! Greetings from Copenhagen.
We arrived after a grueling 14 hour travel day and this city is beautiful! Also, the eligible population in Copenhagen is over 80% vaccinated, so we’ve gone totally maskless. It’s surreal. To not have to grab the mask with my keys every day. To not feel uncomfortable in crowded, indoor spaces. This city is a total delight!
This week’s recs are as follows:
1/ Earlier this month came the 20th anniversary of 9/11. There’s not much, if anything really, that I can add to the conversation. However, I found this read from Ann Beeson of the SPLC particularly interesting. Reflections on 9/11: Anti-Muslim backlash ushered in era of grave threat to civil liberties and rights.
2/ This is a fun interview with famed tennis player Billie Jean King. Along with her memorable career and time in the spotlight, Billie Jean King has been passionately fighting for women’s equality and racial equality in the States - starting with sports - for decades. She’s a heroic figure.
3/ A friend and client, Adrianne Wright, wrote this deeply personal essay for Elle Magazine after the near-ban on abortions in Texas. It’s a difficult, gut-wrenching read but Adrianne’s bravery shines through.
That’s all for this week! We’re heading down to Næstved for a wedding tomorrow, then remaining in Copenhagen for the following week. Next week’s newsletter will carry additional Danish flair. Have a great weekend, all!
