Hello friendly readers. Happy Thursday and thank you, as always, for being here to read through this weeks recommendations.
Being back in NYC feels both exciting and daunting. One thing I’ve always loved, and kind of felt a little queasy about, is how New York really never stops. You leave, it keeps going. You come back and it’s onto something else. It’s refreshing and also a bit disorienting. All this to say, I’ve got some catching up to do and will hop to it.
1/ I found this exposé on an instagram influencers attempts to save fleeing Afghani civilians to be pretty interesting and disheartening. It’s a very uniquely modern situation when an influencer calls out for donations from followers to solve deeply complex, political crises. What a mess.
2/ The trailer for the new matrix looks…amazing.
3/ In petty news, I enjoyed reading this thread about a stingy, rich woman. It led me down a rabbit hole of reading about Andy Warhol (yucky) and wealthy people and lots of other fun, silly things. Did you know Warhol used to charge around $25k for single-panel commissions of his polaroid series work and he would create about 50 a year? Wild.
Ok, that’s all for this week. Hope you’re enjoying this series and as always feel free to share this newsletter. Dennis, you can subscribe now.
