Hello hello! Writing this to you from the base of the Romsdalseggen mountain in Åndalsnes, Norway.
Yesterday, we hiked the Ridge - a roughly 10.5 KM hike (though we skipped the last 1.5 KM to take the famed Gandola down). It starts with a couple of steep miles straight up over large rocks then the ridge trail. My legs are feeling it today!
This has been a pretty epic trip - seeing so much of this beautiful country. We leave today to head to the Juvet Landskapshotell.
And of course I want to quickly celebrate, Susannah!
I can’t believe it’s almost her bday! Another year older and wiser. 35 was a big one for Susannah - lots of growth with Tourlami, lots of travel and work and time together. It’s been a dream growing older together. Can’t wait to celebrate tomorrow :)
Ok, enough enough. Let’s get into the recs for this week:
1/ On two of the three flights we took from the Lofoten Islands to Ålesond, I listened intently to this excellent two-part podcast on the Economics of Taylor Swift. They deep dive into how she came to be and all the smart business decisions she’s made to become a billionaire. An excellent listen! Part 1 and Part 2.
2/ Austin Kleon’s (of Steal Like an Artist fame) commonplace diary.
3/ A couple pieces from the hostage situation in Israel.
On the devastating murder of Hersh.
As the war grinds toward its end, Hersh’s murder will haunt Israeli dreams—and Netanyahu’s legacy. In a moral sense, culpability rests entirely with Hersh’s depraved executioners. But Netanyahu behaved grotesquely when presented with opportunities to secure his release.
On the name Hersh and what he meant to many of us.
That’s all for this week. Thanks for following and sharing. One more edition from Scandinavia then we’re back Stateside for the Fall. See you premos this weekend.
