The 33 Project
Hello hello! Its Thursday aka the best day of the week! The last few days have been disgustingly hot and muggy, but also full of fun and love and so much food.
I also never want to hear the song Dream On again in my life - but that’s a story for another time.
Let’s get into the recs for this week:
1/ On online harassment. “Merciless trolling is a fact of online life that may never go away.” The internet is so messy sometimes (/always?).
2/ An interesting listen on women’s soccer compared to men’s soccer and how sex differences play out. Especially on both injury potential and the goal keepers role. I appreciated how they discussed the consequences of suggesting sex differences as well. All around felt like an interesting discussion.
3/ Spotify’s podcast bets have not been paying off. Whoops.
“The size of the bet up against the size of the market just seems irrational in retrospect,” Evan Shapiro, a media consultant and producer, said of Spotify’s podcast investment. “They’re out of runway.”
Doesn’t mean they aren’t on track to win the long game. But let’s see how it plays out.
