Morning! Hope you’re having a nice little Sunday. The city is in its’ transitional phase - switching seasons. The air is slightly crispier and the hordes of students are out and about. I do enjoy this ritualistic descent into Fall.
Somehow, NYC has the ability to make the most natural and simple things feel complex and full of layers. And, vise-versa. I love it here so much.
Onto the recs:
1/ Props to Louis for this excellent article on the bar at the St Regis. Stacked with charm and history, it’s worth read. Let’s grab a drink!
2/ Yesterday afternoon, I had the pleasure of seeing The Substance.
Still working through my thoughts - though I did enjoy it. I thought it was clever and dark and absolutely wild. I liked it more than Dana Stevens at Slate, who had lots to say here. I do agree with her that the film stretches on a bit too long and is repetitive. But she missed something key about self-hatred that I think might have added to her review. Please see it so we can discuss!
